Sundays

Brunch in Montmartre on a Sunday: our version

No €35 buffet brunch with a queue outside. On Sundays as on any other day, we serve breakfast from 8am to 11:30am, then the full bistro menu without a break: eggs mayonnaise, gratinated onion soup, beef and carrot stew, crème brûlée. Arrive at 11am, start with pancakes and finish with a glass of white and a cheese board. That's our brunch: you pay for what you eat, and there's no cut-off time.

On the terrace

Breakfast on the terrace, facing the painters

From March to October, the terrace is set up from 8am in the middle of Place du Tertre. At that hour the square is empty, the painters are setting up their easels, and you drink your coffee in front of a Montmartre the day visitors never see. When it rains, the dining room has the same windows onto the square.

Getting here

Three minutes from the Sacré-Cœur, before the crowds

Place du Tertre is 250 metres from the Sacré-Cœur basilica: a three-minute walk. Breakfast at 8:30am, Sacré-Cœur at 9:30am before the coaches arrive, and you walk back down the rue du Calvaire steps while everyone else is climbing up. Métro Abbesses (line 12) then an 8-minute walk uphill, or Anvers (line 2) and the Montmartre funicular. The Montmartrobus stops at Norvins, a hundred metres away.

Why here

Why have breakfast on Place du Tertre rather than down the hill

Because at 8am we are the only place open on the square, because everything is homemade, from the jam to the pancakes, and because this is a neighbourhood bistro before it is a tourist address: the painters, the delivery drivers and the neighbours have their coffee here. Le Fooding, Time Out and Libération came for the wine and the cooking; in the morning you get the same house, only quieter.

In a group

Group or team breakfast in Montmartre

Up to 9 people, just turn up. From 10, or for a team breakfast before a meeting, we set up the upstairs room overlooking the square, with the same set breakfasts from €11 per person. Write to us the day before, or ask for the groups brochure.

Team meals and breakfasts

A word from Julie

At 8am the painters are setting up their easels, the square is empty, the terrace is in the sun. It's the moment we like best: a coffee, an onion soup for the brave, and the view for everyone. Some people have the soup with a glass of white. We don't judge, we pour.
